Sam Morneau is Melissa Parker’s best friend. He’s also a member of The Kind of September, basically the hottest boy band on the planet.

After two and a half years, Mel is all too familiar with the day-to-day occurrences that come with being a member of the band’s inner circle, including hectic schedules, passionate fans, and gossip-mongering celebrity girlfriends.

Now, with the release of the group’s third album just weeks away, their lives have never been crazier and Mel is doing everything she can to keep up, all the while trying to cope with the ridiculous rumors that follow the band everywhere they go and pretending that she isn’t harboring a secret and hopeless crush on Sam.

It’s weird enough being in love with your best friend. It’s even weirder when the rest of the world is in love with him, too.

*My Thoughts*

I receive a paperback copy from the author in exchange with my honest review. And this will not affect my thoughts and opinion about it in any way.

Are you fond of listening to music? How about boy bands? Best friend turns to lovers? Friendship? and secret relationship? Then, if you just said yes to all of it. You are in the right place.

Just by reading the title you can have a glimpse of what the story is all about. For a vivid picture, Boy Band is like One Direction turn into a book with a twist of Mel (best friend of a member of The Kind of September or TKoS) having a secret crush with Sam.

All of the characters personality and background information are well described by the author. Upon reading it, it will let you fall in love with each of the characters well except for Tara. Wondering who she is? I recommend you to read the book to know why and let’s fangirl everything about the book.

There’s this saying that “Nobody’s perfect.” But for me, there is aside from God. And that someone is the author, Jacqueline Smith. Why? It is simply because her work Boy Band hooked me more into reading novels like this. Novels that talked about music, friendship, love, kissing, and at the same time novels that are fast-paced and a thirst quenching story in every page you read. Some of those who read and for me as well that the book focused more on the TKoS not on Sam and Mel’s love story. But think of it, it is okay because as you read the title, it already scream that the book will talk about the boy band which is the TKoS. And the cute romantic relationship of Sam and Mel is just a bonus. That’s just my opinion but I will be honest also. I’m looking forward also that in the next book which is Backstage that their relationship should have more emphasis.

One thing that let me want to read the next book aside from the plot twist in the ending is the lyrics of the Band’s songs in every of their album. I love how before reading the story in every chapter. We have the privilege to have a peak in their songs and embrace the beauty of the meaning of  the lyrics of the song.

Generally, Boy Band is a lovable story that make you hook more into boy bands and music. I highly recommend it not just for people who love music but also those who want to have a great reads.
